Hello everyone! I want to personally thank you for taking the time out to read my blog! This is my first time ever writing a blog so of course I wanted to introduce myself first!
Well, my name is Alicia Gage and I currently live in Charleston, SC. My name is pronounced A-lish-a-please don’t ask me why, that’s what my mother and godmother named me. I preferred to be called Lish or Lisha. I am 32 years old and I LOVE PERSONAL FINANCE.
My journey for the love of finance first began at the age of 16 when I got my first job as an intern. I was only making $6.15 an hour but back then, with no bills, $6.15 an hour felt like $20 an hour. This experience built the foundation on how I learned to save and budget.
At 23, I had everything in order with my finances. I was working 2 jobs so I always had enough to pay my bills, save, and have a little fun from time to time. I would say, during this time, I was financially stress free!
Within a few months, however, my finances took a drastic turn that almost caused me to fully deplete my savings account. I was so nervous and scared. From that experience, I vowed to myself that I will start getting more serious about my finances and make sure, if I can’t do anything else, I save, save, and save!
During this time, I was also working in the banking industry and it pained me to see individuals going through financial turmoil too. I would constantly see negative bank accounts, unnecessary fees, and individuals applying for things they didn’t need or wasn’t qualified for. I was so angry and frustrated because I wanted to help everyone learn the importance of financial literacy.
There were many days where I would sit at my desk and try to understand why. Why was there such a lack of basic financial literacy in the world? Why were individuals constantly in financial bondage? Do people really not care about their financial situation? Pretty soon after that, I went on a spiritual journey to find my purpose and in about 2 years, Alicia’s Financial Corner LLC was formed!
As a certified financial education instructor and financial coach, my objective is to educate you on the importance of finance, while making it fun in the process. My goal is to bridge the gap between individuals and basic financial literacy. I want YOU to understand personal finance and build a better relationship with money!
This blog is intended to make you think, laugh a little, and reshape your current thoughts about finances. Education is something no one can take from you. When you know better, you do better! Financial literacy is the key to financial success!

Biggest accomplishment: Stepping out on faith and creating Alicia’s Financial Coach! I am an introvert so this is a BIG thing for me.
Favorite type of music: 90’s R&B! I’m a big fan of India Arie too!
Favorite color: Fuschia, well I guess it’s called magenta now.
Favorite tv show: Just about anything on OWN, VH1, WeTV, and Bravo. I also like Shark Tank, so inspiring!
